Extend my current secondment assignment to live and work in the UK My initial assignment began in October 2011 and ended in October 2012 for a 1 year term as Audience Development Manager in London.

My second longer term assignment began in February 2013 for a period of 3 years.  Therefore at the start of this program I had 6 months left on my visa/ contract and assignment.

I worked with my line manager, Publishing Director and HR resource to attempt to have my contract finalized prior to the Christmas holiday.   This was completed in January and my visa was filed for and received at with a few weeks spare.

My current assignment has been extended until 2018.

My current intention with my partner is to stay living and working in London and we are working towards the legal recognition of that.

Grow/ Change roles to wider remit, play on my strengths and align with business objectives New role discussed with my line manager and Publishing Director in August of 2015 as part of my visa renewal process

Draft job description submitted and finalized in November

Title finalized in January – Head of Data Science role

Team transition and internal communications began

April 1st- official notation of change of role and title

Feedback on my new role and accomplishments has been very positive thus far.

I have begun a review of our other commercial businesses (advertising through display and recruitment) and have scheduled meeting dates for sharing of some points of optimization and business growth from my perspective.

New products have begun a shift from a start up type metric model to a more scaled-up sustainable growth model.  For example, websites for new products were built quickly and cost effectively for their time.  Now that revenue streams have developed we need to apply the same core fundamentals of good digital marketing infrastructure to them to scale – i.e SEO, social, direct marketing optimization

Establishing myself as a valuable peer rather than subordinate to others  Understanding of relationship dynamics and how my behavior can change that dynamic  I’ve changed my behavior in 1. immediately addressing situations in which I am patronized by addressing that with feedback at the time of/immediately thereafter an incident

2. Owning my active voice rather than apologizing for something I’ve not done wrong

3. Ensuring I have multiple professional feedback mechanisms from various key stakeholders within our matrix management functionality

Expertise in data science  Using industry resources, tutorials to understand latest methods and easiest ways to implement; trying to further understand how specialist vs. generalist my skills are required for delivery of business results – i.e. known knowns, known unknowns  Continually evolving!
